What Can We Do?
As a human race we have to realize the problem, and cut back on our plastic consumption to reduce the amount of plastic, and other garbage that is ending up in our oceans. To take away these problems on a global scale, everyone has to work on an individual level. The easiest way to do this is to avoid plastic materials as much as possible, and to not use products that contain microbeads. Recycling, and reusing plastic materials are great ways to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the oceans. Other simple solutions for reducing the amount of plastic that is in the GPGP, and other oceans are shownin the image below.
If you want to take the extra step, donate to The Ocean Cleanup to help fund the cleanup of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and other oceans. They also look for caring, and smart individuals to join their team to aid in the cleanup. The Ocean Cleanup has developed the best technology for cleaning plastic as well as other garbage out of the oceans, and is currently implementing it.
